In the Fall of 2002, Lewis Jones, Paul Blank, and Ken Woolfson of
San
Antonio sat in a little mexican cafe in San Antonio and began to put
together the Tour on napkins. All we thought we needed was a written
proposal and an Appointment with Fast Eddies ownership.
It only made sense since Fast Eddies was growing
at meteoric pace
with already 14 locations State Wide and no signs of slowing down. We
thought we could cover most of the Big state and give people a place to
play.
The appointment turned into an adventure, but it happened and Mark
{Big Lew} Lewis simply said, "we can do this". Hence, the tour was born.
Initially we had an entry fee of $60.00 with a $25.00 per year Tour
membership Fee. There was also $1500 added per event.
With inclusion of Olhausen who donates cash to each event as well
as an Eclipse pool table to be raffled at the season Finale, the tour
is ready to begin its 7th year.
It has been just great to watch this grow and grow. Each event is
very competitive with a wide range of players and talent from all over
the state and region. You just never know who might show up at any
time at one of these events. What is more gratifying is to observe the
level of competition grow and grow. That is truly the fun part of
this.
